The Lexus LC F will be at the top of the LC model lineup and was first spied on in the middle of testing about two years ago. That would give the Japanese automaker a rival for the BMW M8 Competition and most likely be the brand’s fastest production model, possibly surpassing the iconic Lexus LFA.
Now, Car sensor claims that Lexus has decided to discontinue the project because of the cost and labor it took to complete the development of the car and actually bring it to market.
All previous indications point to the Lexus LC F using a newly developed 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. In fact, Lexus confirmed it was developing such an engine late last year to compete in this year’s Nurburgring 24 Hours which was scheduled to take place in May but has been rescheduled for September. At that time, Lexus said that this machine would later be used “in future road cars such as sports cars”.
Since then, however, the coronavirus pandemic has changed the world and the brand’s plans seem to be on the air.

Succumbing to the trend, Lexus will replace the naturally aspirated LC500 V-8 with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that produces 600 horsepower. Automatic 10 speed will handle gear changes. The updated and lightened torque-vector differential will work together with the latest version of the brand’s Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system, adding to the LC F’s on-track capabilities.
