2023 Lexus RX: The All-New 2023 Lexus RX Looks Impressive Review

Posted on

2023 Lexus RX Luxury Midsize SUV Crossover If you call a car that created an entire market segment, the Lexus RX is one of them. When the RX launched in 1999, it was one of the first luxury crossovers to hit the market, and quickly became a success story.

Since then, the RX has been a trusted Lexus seller, making it the flagship product of its kind. The RX is also one of the first luxury crossovers to offer a hybrid system that can deliver excellent fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance.

The next generation of the RX is just around the corner. With Toyota’s commitment to electrification, can this best-selling SUV break the stereotype again by providing only hybrid and full-electric power?

2023 Lexus RX 350 is preparing a major model overhaul in the next two to three years and plans to add a new nameplate to its existing lineup.

Three electric models will launch in the United States in 2025 but the long-running model will not be discontinued. Instead, most of them will be fully updated and Automotive News has a new report providing early details on what’s to come.

2023 Lexus RX Review

The Lexus RX is quietly one of America’s most popular and important vehicles. It is the best-selling product of Toyota’s luxury division year after year and one of the five vehicles that luxury car buyers are most likely to consider.

2023 Lexus RX

The balance of a quiet driving experience and reliable resale value is almost right. Lexus shouldn’t have changed that much.

But it’s time for a redesign. The RX 2022 is based on the 2015 design. Driver tastes have changed in the last eight years, with new technology and more expensive petrol changing our expectations of our cars.

Can Lexus maintain the edge that made the RX the right answer for so many buyers and update it to stay relevant for the next eight years?

Enter the Lexus RX 2023, with a new hybrid powertrain, new cab technology and the same reputation for reliability that made the old RX conquer the midsize luxury crossover SUV market.

It went on sale towards the end of the year. We hope to study prices closer to that time. The current RX starts at $46,995 and stretches to over $60,000 fully equipped.

Great Evolution

The RX 2023 shares the platform with the smaller Lexus NX and Toyota RAV4. It’s a cheaper SUV, which might make you wonder if the new RX will feel as smooth as it should be.

But Toyota has long made many vehicles from multiple platforms with great success. The new architecture is lighter than the old one, which might even make the driving experience more responsive.

It’s also lower – so low that we might be tempted to call the RX a wagon if the automaker didn’t have to market most cars as SUVs these days.

The RX 2023 retains the curvy design theme the model is known for. But the designers have updated the look with sharper edges on the hood and a floating roof design thanks to the black C-pillar reaching the taillights.

If you pay attention, you will see that the Lexus trademark bobbin grille is basically gone. It’s a large black trapezoid here, with a dimple in the painted sheet metal above showing the top of an old hourglass.

Four Powertrains, Three Hybrids

Buyers can choose from four powertrains, none of which feature the V6 engine that has been a staple of the Lexus lineup for so long.

Instead, the new engine on the base of the RX 350 is a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that produces 275 horsepower. It sends power via an 8-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels, with all-wheel-drive available.

The RX 350h gets a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine mated to a hybrid system and works through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). That setting is good for 246 horsepower.

A plug-in hybrid RX 450h+ is on its way. But Lexus said, “details of the vehicle for the US market will be shared at a later time.”

At the top of the lineup, the new RX 500h F Sport Performance edition pops up with every trick in a Lexus bag. It combines a turbocharged 4-cylinder from the 350 with a pair of electric motors – one per axle – working via a sport-tuned 6-speed automatic transmission. That’s enough for 367 horsepower while still managing 26 mpg in combined driving.

Updated Cabin, Safety Technology

The interior is a completely new look for Lexus. Instead of a screen integrated into the dashboard surface, it looks like the driver’s instrument screen and the available 14-inch center touchscreen are hovering above the dashboard. The ambient lighting behind them adds to the effect.

Of course, this is a Lexus, the leather line on the seats and dashboard. But the designers overlaid the door panels in a material that looks like wool, creating more visual depth than we’re used to from Lexus products. What a handsome look.

Like the all-new NX, the interior door latch doesn’t latch at all. What Lexus calls an “e-latch” opens doors with a single touch – but engineers make mechanical backups for emergencies.

The Lexus Safety System 3.0 range of driver aids is standard. These include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and motorcycle detection, adaptive cruise control that changes speed through corners, lane departure warning, and lane guard assistance.

The automatic parking setup now handles back-in and head-in parking maneuvers.

Stay tuned for pricing information and our driving impressions of the all-new Lexus RX 2023 ahead of its launch towards the end of this year.

2023 Lexus RX Redesign: What Will The 2023 Lexus RX 350 Look Like

Lexus RX 350 2023 is almost there when it comes to modern technology. It debuts a new touchscreen infotainment system and user interface on the redesigned 2023 Lexus RX that will spread to all Lexus models and replace various outdated iterations of multimedia.

2023 Lexus RX

In other Lexus RX 2023 Redesign models, the current interface is upgraded to a touchscreen, but not at the expense of the tried and true CD player.

The Lexus Teammate limited hands-free driving system is another technological evolution for Lexus in the 2023 model year Lexus RX. Only available on the Lexus LS 500h hybrid sedan, the driver-assist system competes with GM Super Cruise and Tesla Autopilot to enable sustainable hands-free driving on limited highways.

In beta testing the system, we found that it lacked the confidence of Super Cruise and the audacity of Autopilot, and the driver’s monitor camera couldn’t see the polarized sunglasses. Lexus has time to change that before it launches this fall.

Here is another significant change for the Toyota luxury brand for 2022.

  • The 350 and 450h midsize crossovers come with a new color option and a continuation of the Black Stripe model.
  • The 350L and 450hL three-row SUVs have standard 8.0-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreens available with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/Amazon Alexa compatibility.
  • A blind-spot monitor with a rear traffic warning is now standard.

2023 RX350 With a redesign rumored to take place in 2023, Lexus will likely have a new look for the RX inside and out.

2023 Lexus RX 450h Redesign

Lexus is preparing a major model overhaul in the next two to three years and plans to add a new nameplate to its existing lineup. Three electric models will launch in the United States in 2025 but the long-running model will not be discontinued. Instead, most of them will be fully updated and Automotive News has a new report providing early details on what’s to come.

The brand’s best-selling crossover in the US will use Toyota’s global luxury platform and will benefit from an upgraded hybrid powertrain. More importantly, it will get a new Lexus Interface infotainment, plus many improved safety and assistance systems.

The LX should also arrive next year riding on Toyota’s GA-F architecture and sharing many components with the new Toyota Land Cruiser. The focus is on improving ride quality and a wider range of available safety systems. It will be interesting to see what engine the new LX will get.

Last but not least, the redesigned GX will also transition to the GA-F body-on-frame architecture and will be heavily updated in terms of standard and optional technologies. Lexus will use Toyota’s latest hybridized powertrain to make it more powerful and more economical when it goes on sale in 2024, according to the report.

As for the UX crossover, it will be facelifted in 2023 possibly getting the Lexus Interface infotainment system and other improvements borrowed from the NX. Meanwhile, the all-electric crossover is expected to join the ICE and its hybrid sibling next year.

2023 Lexus RX 350 F Sport Specs

The RX 350 F SPORT is divided into a basic F SPORT kit and a control kit. The latter was renamed from the previous performance kit.

The two F SPORT kits include a unique steering wheel and derailleur, aluminum pedals, bumper, grille, panels, sport front seats, gauges, aluminum bars, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

2023 Lexus RX Upgrade

Lexus announced last month that the RX L would receive a limited black stripe décor from the 2023 model, but there’s no information about the conventional RX.

Lexus corrected this omission by confirming that the RX 2023 will also receive black line processing.

Options will be available for the Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h, making both models look stylish, feel darker, and have other upgrades.

This Black Line kit includes black 20-inch alloy wheels and wheel nuts, a black front-bottom bumper, black mirrors, and a black Lexus spindle grille.

The trim looks more subtle at the rear, with Lexus only replacing the nameplate badge with black.

The 2023 Lexus RX Black Line will be available in Eminent White Pearl and Caviar finishes. The black theme continues into the interior, with exposed black wood trim, black NuLuxe seats, and contrasting light gray stitching throughout the interior, as well as the seats, steering wheel, upper instrument panel, center console, and shift boot.

Lexus includes all of their Premium Package strapping on the Black Line trim, which includes the Memory System and more.

The Black Line Edition is limited to visual enhancements only, allowing the crossover to offer a bit of variety in its style.

Lexus limited production of the RX BlackLine as they did for the RXL Black Line. However, those smaller crossovers will have more numbers.

The company plans to produce 2,500 RX Black Line vehicles for North America, of which 2,100 will be gasoline vehicles and the remaining 400 will be hybrid vehicles.

The RX 350 Black Line starts at US$49,450 (7.08 crore), while the AWD 450 hours starts at 52,150 rupees (7.47 crore, including destination fee).

That’s about US$4,000 (Rp57.3 million) more expensive than the entry-level trim for both variants.

2023 Lexus RX Black Line

Light updates and a returning special edition will get the RX moving fast. The bestselling Lexus RX crossover has been updated for the 2023 model year.

It gets several new colors for the standard model and the F Sport and fog lamps are now standalone options for all classes.

Lexus also refreshed the Black Line package for the new year. The 3.5-liter V6 remains in the regular and hybrid models.

Let’s start with the black line. The equipment returned is only valid for this year’s 2,500 models, which are divided into the Lexus RX 350 (2100) and RX 450h (400). They are based on a premium package and are available in Lead Caviar or White Pearl.

The Black Line is equipped with black 20-inch alloy wheels and nuts, a black Lexus grille, black mirrors, and a black front bumper. On the back, it also has a black nameplate in the lower right corner of the tailgate.

Inside, buyers get ebony trim and light gray stitching on the black seats that fit into the console, shift leggings, steering wheel, and dashboard top.

The floor mat, cargo pad, and key ring are also black, and the special edition also gets the Lexus Memory System for the driver’s seat, exterior mirrors, and steering wheel. The RX 350 Black Line starts at $49,450 while the RX 450h Black Line has an MSRP of $52,150.

The entire row is refreshed in 2023, so the rest of the changes are minimal. That last update gave us lighter weight and stronger suspension components for a smoother ride.

It also adds an active angle braking function which slows the inner wheels to provide more stability when turning.

For the 2023 Lexus RX, the F Sport edition is broken down into a base package and a handling package (which used to be called the performance package). Both include a dedicated shift knob and steering wheel, pedals, bumper, grille, badge, front seats, and 20-inch wheels.

Both also get performance surprises, LED ambient lighting, and a few other tweaks. The optional handling package adds Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), Electric Power Steering (EPS) sports steering, moonroof, and heated/ventilated seats.

Both RXs will come with the company’s tried and true 3.5-liter V6. In the RX 350, it will produce 295 hp and in the RX 450h, it will be coupled with three electric motors for a total of 308 hp. The RX 350 gets a standard eight-speed automatic transmission; 450h has eCVT.

There’s no mention of the Lexus interface for the new infotainment system for the RX (it will appear on the NX first), but buyers will still choose between an 8-inch or 12.3-inch screen, six USB ports, voice control, and Apple. CarPlay and Android.

Mobil RX can also be integrated into Amazon Alexa and all the functions it provides. Will include all expected safety features, including lane departure warning, lane departure warning, pre-collision braking, radar cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and reverse warning.

2023 Lexus RX Exterior

The current Lexus design language has undergone many changes, but the latest and most refined have created the most beautiful cars without losing the aggressiveness of previous models.

The fifth-generation Lexus RX should have another evolution, and it can reduce some of the controversies so that it can bring more conquests while retaining loyal customers.

Expect the 2023 RX to grow in size a bit, which will provide the same exterior footprint as rivals like the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, and Acura MDX.

2023 Lexus RX Interior

Expect the Lexus RX to have a more spacious interior due to the slightly increased size. That means the crossover will likely get a more usable third-row option but in typical three-row crossover mode, hope it’s only good for short trips or kids.

The second-row captain’s seat must also be offered in the three-row variant. The two-row, five-seat configuration should remain standard on the RX and provide more cargo space behind the second row.

In signature Lexus style, the cab of the next-generation RX should be as quiet as a bank vault and meticulously crafted with plenty of high-quality materials on every surface.

Genuine and faux leather upholstery should still be available with the former likely to be part of the optional package. We also hope that Lexus brings back the bamboo trim as it gives the interior the unique vibe that makes the RX stand out.

As with Lexus’ latest infotainment system, a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen should be available as an option while the base model will likely retain the smaller 8.0-inch unit.

Don’t expect Lexus to ditch the touch panel controls anytime soon. The next upgrade to the Lexus Safety System driver assistance suite should also find its way to the next-generation RX with more semi-autonomous driving assistance to help make your trip less stressful.

2023 Lexus RX Hybrid

Lexus introduced the world’s first luxury hybrid vehicle — the gas/electric version of the RX luxury utility vehicle — more than a decade ago.

2023 Lexus RX

The RX 450h continues to serve as a strong reminder of the brand’s hybrid leadership, with a combined 308 system horsepower for strong performance and an impressive combined EPA estimate of 30 MPG for the RX 450h.

The Lexus hybrid drive system combines a 3.5 liter V6 petrol engine with a fuel injection system and two high torque motor generators in the D4S to provide strong acceleration and overtaking capabilities.

Instead of shifting the gears and driveshaft to the rear wheels, the all-weather gearbox uses a second independent electric motor to drive the rear wheels when needed to ensure optimal traction.

2023 Lexus RX Powertrain

The headlines about the fifth-generation Lexus RX are hidden under the skin: like the ES sedan, it will be carried over to the TNGAK platform, which is also compatible with various Toyota models, including the RAV4, Highlander, and Camry.

This will result in a significant increase in grip. The last Highlander hybrid we tested behaved like a smaller, more compact crossover, delivering good performance without sacrificing driving performance. Manipulation.

The RX will have to go further, as it is expected to be equipped with a customizable adaptive suspension and a coordinated F-Sport variant for better handling.

From the start, the electric power system will be an integral part of the Lexus RX 2023. What will change is the type of engine that forms the backbone of the system. Like the NX 2023, Toyota’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid will also make its way to the RX.

However, it is expected to be equipped with a more powerful electric motor to compensate for the additional weight of the vehicle. This means that it can accommodate components from the RAV4 Prime. A larger battery could also be part of the equation to provide a greater range for the RX in EV mode.

While a V6 engine might make more sense for an RX-sized crossover, Toyota and Lexus could benefit more from the RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid system. The standard hybrid system is probably the same as on the 2022 NX, but with slightly more power.

The Lexus RX 2023 could also mark an upgrade in electric options. Lexus recently introduced DIRECT4 steering technology for hybrid and electric vehicles, which may debut on the RX.

It may be the flagship model in its lineup, but availability may be limited where an electric vehicle infrastructure is a viable option for consumers. The RX EV is expected to be powered by the eTNGA platform, which is being developed by an alliance of Japanese automakers including Toyota, Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki, and Daihatsu.

Lexus RX 2023 Engine

On the other hand, the Lexus RX 450h has the same V6 engine as the petrol-only version but has three electric motors for a combined output of 308 horsepower.

It also has the same eight-speed automatic gearbox and standard all-wheel-drive system as all RX hybrids are only available in AWD.

Lexus RX 2023 Color

The 2023 Lexus RX RX family will continue to offer guests enhanced color and trim options to tailor their luxury crossover to their discerning taste.

Based on guest feedback, NuLuxe ® trim options continue to be offered across all grade levels from basic to Premium vehicles across the RX and RXL range.

For the Luxury class, the interior color of Noble Brown is replaced with Glazed Caramel for 2022. And the Premium class adds Glazed Carmel to the color palette.

2023 Lexus RX Price

The 2023 Lexus RX likely starts at $47,395. The all-wheel drive adds $1,400 to the base price. The RX 450h starts at $50,905. The Lexus RX 350 and 2022 RX 450h BlackLine can be ordered now. The base price of the RX 350 BlackLine is US$49,450, while the starting price of the hybrid model is US$52,150.

As expected by Lexus, both cars are equipped with a standard set of features, such as dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, rain-sensitive windshield wipers, keyless entry with a start button, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Use Apple CarPlay, Android Auto-Connect, and Amazon Alexa.

Is The Lexus Rx Hybrid Worth The Extra Money

The RX 350 is the price, as it costs about $3,650 less.

The hybrid can estimate fuel economy better, but it also uses premium gasoline than the Lexus RX hybrid using regular gasoline, which means that the annual fuel cost savings of the hybrid vehicle are not high.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Release Date

The Lexus Is 2023 Release Date for the RX 350 and 450h across all classes and options is available in separate price sheets for the 2023 model. A possible 2023 Lexus RX vehicle will arrive at dealerships in early fall 2024.
