2024 Lexus LS 500: Next-Gen Lexus LS 500 Ultimate Review

Posted on

2024 Lexus LS 500 will be a model with its arrival imminent. As the default model, the 2024 Lexus LS 500 should have the same general appearance as the current model. The current model features sleek lines, a large grille, and sleek, aggressive-looking headlights and air intakes. The LS has a smooth, rounded look with a sloping roofline and a short trunk at the rear.

The 2024 Lexus LS 500 has done everything a large luxury sedan should do more pragmatically than dramatically. 2024 Lexus LS 500 luxury car Silent, refined, luxurious.

The Lexus LS certainly doesn’t come across as one of the most affordable large luxury sedans on the market. The build quality in every aspect is outstanding, the attention to detail is eye-catching, and the technology is up to date.

Two more USB ports come standard, bringing the total to six. Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration goes wireless, while the infotainment system is upgraded to include cloud-based navigation, along with an onboard digital assistant that’s activated by saying “Hey, Lexus.”

The unpopular Remote Touch interface has been discontinued. And the LS 500h gets the Advanced Drive System, a partial self-driving feature available with a 10-year trial subscription.

2024 Lexus LS 500 Review

The 2024 Lexus LS 500 has been a better car year after year. In fact, we really wish a series of updates had been made to the new 2024 Lexus LS in Japan that aims to make it even better.

In this section, the 2024 Lexus LS 500 has gone to great lengths in carrying out the Improvements made to the Lexus LS starting from under the skin because the shape of the strut on which the rear suspension mounts has been changed.

The 2024 Lexus LS 500 automaker says it has also made this suspension part stiffer and the suspension has been tuned accordingly to improve ride quality.

Not only that, but Lexus has unveiled new 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 245/45 R20 run-flat tires as an option for the limited “Hideki Matsuyama Edition” released in 2021.

Lexus LS models equipped with Lexus Teammate’s advanced driver assistance technology also benefit from several performance enhancements, including better deceleration control.

The 2024 Lexus LS 500 has also expanded the system’s capabilities to offer lane change assistance and when driving at a low-speed merge point or when approaching a vehicle in front the display and buzzer will notify drivers of nearby vehicles.

Updates have also been made to the panoramic monitor with the newly added see-through view, side clearance, and cornering sight.

Updated Lexus multimedia system tweaks complete the upgrade. This system tweak will always display icons on the driver’s side for essential navigation, music, and vehicle settings.

The voice recognition function can now be activated by pressing the on-screen microphone button or by voice.

Wireless Apple CarPlay has also been added while Lexus has also removed the touch panel controller and CD/DVD player, allowing frequently used controls such as heated and ventilated seats to be positioned more comfortably.

Lexus notes that the amplifier and speakers have also been revised to provide better sound quality while the My Lexus smartphone app can also be used to remotely control the AC LS.

2024 Lexus LS 500 Specs

As a luxury sedan, the LS is available in three specification levels: LS 500, LS 500 F Sport, and LS 500h hybrid. This is not expected to change for the upcoming model year. The LS 500 and F Sport share a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine that develops 416 hp and 422 lb-ft of torque. The LS 500h’s 3.5L V6 hybrid engine produces 354 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. The 2024 LS should retain this engine.

Lexus LS 2024

Welcome to the second-best chair in the house. The first is the back, where the heating, massaging and lying down features beckon. At least all passengers benefit from the glide ride quality – with the possible exception of the F Sport version, which we’ll get to in a moment.

However, life behind the wheel is pretty sweet. There are (at least) power-adjustable/heated/ventilated 16-way seats, a comprehensive suite of driver-assist features, plus the option of adaptive air suspension, head-up display, and adaptive cruise control.

The 416-horsepower turbocharged V6 buzzes and grunts away in the background but brings its authoritative drive at low engine speeds to decisive moves.

The F Sport variant has a more fitted front seat and a sportier suspension, but no extra power. Asking a big luxury sedan to be a crazed machine is like asking a football quarterback to be a synchronized swimmer — it’s possible, but not a natural fit. We prefer the LS in its comfort zone, well, comfort zone.

If the 2023 LS duties are mostly city-based, check out the LS 500h hybrid, whose city fuel economy is better than its combustion-only counterpart at four or five miles per gallon. It also has self-parking as standard. And for occasional trips, the Advanced Driving System is the newest addition. This is a hands-free/feet-free feature for major highway stretches.

We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and researching today’s large collection of luxury sedans, including this Lexus LS.

New Lexus LS 500 2024

The Lexus flagship reportedly won’t be beaten in the technology stakes by its cheaper showroom counterpart for a long time to come.

Japanese outlet Creative Trend reports from dealer sources that the Lexus LS will be receiving various updates this year, with an October 2022 launch expected in Japan.

Most notably, the car’s aging infotainment system will reportedly be replaced with a new system featured in the updated UX as well as the new NX and LX.

As well as a fresher look, the new Lexus Interface brings over-the-air updates and greater support for voice commands.

It’s unclear whether the touchscreen will increase in size. The current LS has a 12.3-inch display, but larger 14-inch units can be found in the new NX.

The LS will reportedly be the next Lexus to deliver the much-maligned Remote Touch trackpad.

It’s unclear what will fill its space on the center console. The updated 2023 UX now features heated and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel controls in place, and the updated ES will reportedly follow suit.

Lexus will reportedly upgrade the LS’ surround-view camera system, with a transparent view plus a “front wide view system”.

As part of a series of updates for 2021, Lexus tweaked the LS’s suspension to improve ride quality.

Lexus engineers will reportedly further improve ride quality by updating the “rear suspension member mounting parts”, according to a Creative Trend report.

The report doesn’t mention any cosmetic changes beyond some of Lexus’ recent badging updates.

While LS will reportedly not replace its rear L emblem with the spaced Lexus wordmark like the new NX and LX, it will reportedly lose the Lexus wordmark at the bottom of the trunk lid.

As with other Lexus model updates, the LS500h will also reportedly lose the blue highlight on its badge and will do away with the side skirt hybrid badge.

Like everything else in this fairly low-volume segment, the LS lives in the shadow of its Australian rival, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Fresh from a full redesign, the S-Class sits on 74 sales years to date. Lexus has sold eight LS sedans this year, in line with the soon-to-be-updated Audi A8 but behind the BMW 7 Series (23) and Porsche Panamera (21).

2024 Lexus LS 500 Interior

The interior of the Lexus LS is a comfortable and luxurious place to travel. It has five spacious seats, and the gas model has a cargo capacity of 16.95 cubic feet. Due to the battery, the hybrid variant loses quite a bit of storage space.

Standard infotainment features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a remote touchpad controller, 12 speakers, navigation, six USB outlets, satellite and HD radio, wireless device charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility.

Comfortable seats, spacious and quiet cabin, high-quality materials, modern technology, etc. Extraordinary. But big luxury sedans are expected to have all of this stuff. This is an even more extraordinary optional interior treatment.

2024 Lexus LS 500

Like Kiriko’s glass door panel inserts, which are finished with origami-inspired hand pleats and a powered backrest for the right rear seat — a chair that also has a shiatsu massage function. This is all part of the special Executive package. Or there’s Haku’s ultra-thin metal piece hand-fitted for the door, handed down from 400 years of tradition.

Despite being relatively affordable, the 2023 Lexus LS admirably fulfills the role of the exclusive flagship sedan.

Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto

Why spoil the peace and quiet of the Lexus LS with untidy wiring? Wireless smartphone integration is now standard.

Infotainment system

Updated for 2023, the system includes a 12.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen and digital assistant. It’s also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple Music streaming.

AudioMark Levinson

At $1,940, it’s relatively inexpensive for a high-end surround sound system. And those are individual options (no need to buy a plan). This 23-speaker/2,400-watt setup can bring out details on your favorite songs you may not have heard before. This is standard in the LS 500h hybrid.

The hybrid alternative is the 354 horsepower petrol/electric drivetrain in the LS 500h, which comes with AWD as standard, as well as a model-specific automatic transmission.

Premium petrol is required for both drivetrains.

Hybrid battery, even better: 10 years or 150,000 miles.

Lexus also includes two free services—one at 5,000 miles, the other at 10,000 miles.
