2024 Lexus ES 350 alongside the LS flagship sedan, the midsize ES helped launch the Lexus brand over 30 years ago. The car has changed substantially since then, but seven generations later it remains closely associated with the Toyota Camry and Avalon. Just like the original, the Lexus ES prioritizes driving comfort and luxury over a sporty impression.
In that role, the ES 350 is definitely superior. With a suspension that meets standard sedans, it absorbs the bumps in the road and the seats offer effective support for long trips. The cabin is quiet and loaded with features even in its basic form.
For performance, the ES 350 won’t burn your pants but again not trying. Power delivery from the V6 is smooth and gear changes are quick and barely noticeable.
This is the kind of car that you can jump into after a tiring day and forget about the worries and pressures of the outside world.
2024 Lexus ES 350 Review
The 2024 Lexus ES 350 has finally made its appearance by eliminating the controversial touchpad interface. The introduction of the touchscreen last year has kept the controllers around but now the transition is complete.
With the touchpad removed comes a redesigned center console and integration of standard wireless Apple CarPlay and smartphone Android Auto. Lexus also introduced two new F Sport trims this year.
The F Sport Design effectively replaces the previous F Sport model and the F Sport Handling is basically the old F Sport Dynamic Handling package with a few extra goodies.
The Lexus ES 350 competes with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Volvo S60, and Acura TLX. As we’ve already established, the ES can’t really get along with them dynamically (that task falls to the sportier rear-wheel drive-based Lexus IS).
But what it lacks in performance it makes up for in comfort and luxury features. See our Expert Rating for all the details.
- The interior is comfortable and mostly upscale
- Excellent ride quality
- Nice balance of handling from the F Sport version
- An updated infotainment system that dispenses with the previous touchpad
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities
- New F Sport design and F Sport Handling trim
- Beautiful interiors
- Decent value
- Thrifty hybrid
- Calm demeanor
- No more touchpads!
2024 Lexus ES 350 Redesign
If you can resist the allure of an SUV, the Lexus ES stands out as a very rational choice. It’s a 7.0 out of 10 on the TCC scale thanks to its awesome mix of refinements, features, and even fuel economy in a hybrid form.
After major updates to the previous generation, now that the Lexus ES 350 has entered 2024 with its latest refresh we expect an update to the new center console which removes the touch panel controller and replaces that interface with either the standard 8.0-inch touchscreen or an optional 12.3-inch unit.
The 2024 Lexus ES 350 has an almost sporty style with its toned-down lines. The interior is more sobering with streamlined shapes and minimal fuss details. Adorned in lighter tones with soft leather and real wood trim, the ES can be truly luxurious.

2024 Lexus ES 350 Driver
Acceleration is powerful and smooth, and the V6 is strong throughout its rev range. The steering wheel is well-weighted and contributes to the ES 350’s quietness when you’re driving around corners. There’s not a lot of maximum grip from the tires, but overall the ES grips better than you’d expect from a luxury-oriented sedan.
Around town, smooth acceleration and imperceptible gear changes make the ES a pleasure to drive. Even in city traffic, the ES feels like it’s just coasting thanks to its relaxed powertrain.
2024 Lexus ES 350 Interior
The 2024 Lexus ES has a great cabin for the money. It is an 8 on our scale thanks to its good ability to carry four passengers, luxurious front seat and beautiful trim.
The ES stretches 196 inches long, which gives it great interior space. Power-adjustable front seats accommodate a wide range of bodies with a dash of sportiness.
Five adults can slide inside, although the third row is a bit cramped for the three big people besides. Oddly enough, the second row of backrests does not fold, so you will have to pay extra for shipping oversized items when shopping.
Synthetic leather comes as standard, while soft genuine materials are on the list of options. Other luxury pieces include open porous wood, heated and cooled front seats, and contrast stitching. The two-tone cabin can be a little jarring at first but the careful attention to detail makes it a delightful place to whittle down the miles.
Getting in and out of the ES is no problem thanks to the low seat cushion and wide door opening. There is also a large gap between the front passenger and the door panels which creates a feeling of space. There is plenty of space in the rear seats especially between the backrest and knees even for a 6ft tall passenger.
Drivers of most heights and body types should find a comfortable driving position given the power-adjustable ES seats and mostly clear views around the car. The volume knob is great and feels like it’s from an old-school stereo receiver.
Comfort and isolation are the hallmarks of the ES, and neither is sacrificed for better handling. The front seats are firm and supportive, without excessive side rolls to get in and out of the way. (Note that the F Sport’s sports seats have a more aggressive shape and roll.) The rear seats are just as comfortable, albeit a bit wide and flat. You can sit in the front or back for a long time without getting tired.
The latest ES 350 also does not lose its ability to absorb bumps and bumps on the road. There’s a bit of annoying wind noise at highway speeds – more than we’d expect from a Lexus – but perhaps more noticeable since the car tames road and tire noise so well. Engine noise is barely noticeable.

2024 Lexus ES 350 Exterior
The 2024 Lexus ES 350 with LED headlamps comes standard onboard with a premium triple-beam version available as an option across the line. The ES 350 also offers a panoramic moon roof option.
Special alloy wheels designed to reduce road noise are standard on Ultra Luxury and optional on Luxury.
The ES 300h hybrid has a drag coefficient of 0.26 (on 17-inch wheels), which is quite impressive for a mid-size luxury sedan. The previous generation Prius glided through the air with a drag coefficient of 0.25.
Next Lexus ES 350 Tech
Our test car came with a spectacular-looking 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Widescreen navigation maps look great thanks to great contrast and color indicators.
The display has touchscreen capabilities, and you can also control many navigations, telephone, audio, and even climate control functions via voice commands. Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration are included.
The ES also comes standard with some standard driver safety features, such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, which help minimize lane drift.
New Lexus ES 350 Powertrain
Whatever the powertrain, all versions of the 2024 Lexus ES 350 have a cosseting ride that’s expected to emphasize control and shock absorption in sporty moves.
The base model comes in either the front-wheel-drive 302-hp V-6-powered ES 350 model or the 203-hp 4-cylinder ES 250 all-wheel-drive car.
The choice that works best here is the ES 300h hybrid which produces a combined 214 hp and 44 mpg, meaning it can go 15 more miles on a gallon of fuel than its siblings.

2024 Lexus ES 350 Engine & Transmission
A mixed bag in the most affordable Lexus ES sedan, the 2023 ES 250 AWD. On one hand, all-wheel drive is standard. On the other hand, the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine only produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. There is no option for more power. The other drivetrains also don’t offer all-wheel drive – they’re all front-wheel drive.
An even more appropriate amount of muscle for a luxury sedan is present in the ES 350, boosted by 302 horsepower and 267 lb-ft from the 3.5-liter V6.
Both the 250 and 350 models use an 8-speed automatic transmission. The ES 300h hybrid drivetrain includes a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Lexus didn’t provide torque figures for the hybrid, but the ES 300h’s combination of the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors makes a total of 215 horsepower.
Regular petrol is acceptable with any variant.
